Big Swede in Italy
January 26-28, 2007: Per-Olof Lindqvist or P-O joined us from Sweden for a "get away" weekend in the Alps and Italy put it's best foot forward with fresh snow (finally) on Thursday and blue skies with endless sunshine on Saturday and Sunday. The weekend started with a typical Piedmontese dinner at our local (and still favorite) restaurant called L'Oca Fola or The Crazy Duck. The beauty of this place is a new menu every night made with 4 courses of the freshest food available for only 30 euro. Only 12 tables and everyone in the house is eating the same thing... whatever moma has cookin'. Suberb! On Saturday we left early for Montgenevre, France (Altitude 1850m – 2680m) for some skiing and the highlight was a 700 m back bowl run (off-piste) with magestic vistas, 30+ cm of powder, no people, and even some fresh tracks! We were crushed at the end but it was perfect. Next stop, Sauze D'Oulx! This is the small village where we have our condo and the crazy Dane joined us for a night of cards, drinking, and catching up. Sunday was spent chillin' in the sun at the local cafe and watching the world go by... Great weekend with friends and hopefully it was just what PO had in mind!

The Holiday Trip 2006-2007
December 19, 2006 to January 11, 2007: Yes, this was a nice long and much anticipated trip home for the holiday season. The main recipe for this trip was "family" as we had not seen everyone in so long and the trip did not disappoint with tons of great memories and times shared. The trip starts in Pittsburgh, PA (home to John's and Lisa's families) and we did all the customary pre-Christmas visiting and last minute gift buying and the highlight was the wonderful Cabaret show writen and starring Matthew Tweardy. The show was a spoof on "da 'Burgh" and was just perfect. The icing on the evening's festivities was the surprise proposal of the youngest bro Greg to his long time side kick and better half, Donna. She of course said yes and love was in the air!!! Here comes another wedding! The trip continued with Christmas Eve at the Tweardy's (in da rental house!) and Christmas Day at the Harris'. It was another wonderful and generous Christmas and the only thing missing was our sister Sherrie .... still in Germany with her hubby Matt! One could argue that Brian, Jennifer, and Adam were missing but that is another story.

Next stop Steamboat, CO and this was the highlight of the vacation. Although unsure of the formula for total family mixology... the result was a perfect cocktail and the week could not have worked out better. There was skiing, drinking, cooking, game playing, hot tubbing, dancing, shopping, a surprise guest of an old friend, some great mexican food (colorado style), and plenty of chillin'. Special thanks to Donut and Wendy for the Denver hospiltality and Mission Accomplished on family. A new tradition is born!

Next stop Los Cabos, Mexico (and you thought we were finished). Our gracious hosts for this VIP voyage were Heidi and Mark Roup. The plan here was to relax, as 14 days of family is great... just not exactly "relaxing". Heidi and Mark are the Mexican Sun Gods of Relaxation and the trip was brilliant in every way. There was yachting, fine dining, touring, shopping, jazzing (is that a word), star watching, massaging, some fitness, some drinking, lots of great mexican food, plenty of hospitality, and lots of fun! Just what we needed and we are already looking forward to more lazy days with that incredible view (hint: don't sell the place). Mark and I are the "eucher" (card game) champions of Cabo and oooh how that makes Heidi CRAZY! Thanks for the amazing time!

Well.... back in Italy now and back to the reality. Thanks to all the people involved in making the holiday season of 2006/2007 a very memorable one and hope to see everyone soon in Italy!
