The Big Apple
March 14-20, 2007: IBM Class was the reason for the trip and of course, course was great. Then comes the winter that Torino has been avoiding and all the planes are delayed... city comes to a halt. Then comes the cancelled meeting in Richmond. OK, enough complaining. The real NYC was seeing my bro Matteo and "The Pirate Queen" on Broadway. Daniel was in the ensemble and was excellent! The show is high energy and we all hope it is a smash hit! We hit an after theatre dinner and caught up on all things. Molto Bene! I also got to see "Putnam County Spelling Bee". This was a nice surprise as I took full advantage of the flight delays and it was great. Very witty and at times, laugh out loud funny! Overall... I love the big apple and would not trade it's madness for anything!

The softer side of Bavaria
February 23 - 25, 2007: My Bavarian experience thus far in Europe has consisted mostly of Oktoberfest and more to the point... sausage, beer, and pretzel filled evenings. Since we discovered our brother Matt will be heading "down range" (Army term for going to Afghanistan) in May, we wanted to see both Sherie and Matt in Germany and do something very non-military-esk and relaxing. After super-planner (aka Lisa) worked out all the details, we decided to enjoy the hospitality of a Bavarian Spa and the beauty of Neuschwanstein Castle. Neuschwanstein Castle (yes, the magic kingdom castle) is perhaps the most famous 19th century neo-romantic castle in the world and was built by Ludwig II, King of Bavaria. Believe the hype, this castle is just as amazing as the pictures and the castle and spectacular Bavavian Alps alone would have made the trip well worth it. But... that were just the side show. The main event was enjoying the the Hotel Rubezahl and Wellness Center with everyone. For about 6 hours on Saturday and Sunday, the boys were treated to just about everything the spa had to offer and the gals followed with a nice selection of hand picked favorites. Hard living ! We followed it up with a nice dinner and of course, some Bavavian Beer and games. Although too short, it was great seeing Sherrie and Matt and getting to "spoil" them a bit. We can't wait to do it again soon and miss you already.

Matt... you are far more brave than I... do your best, serve your country and come back safely! We love you!
